From the table, SEMrush reveals 125,557 potential rivals. Undoubtedly, this is faster and time-saving than searching through Google. Also, keep a close eye on the highlighted grades in the table:

  • Competitor Level– The larger the percentage of mutual keywords, the higher the level of the competition you’re faced with.
  • Mutual Keywords– This uncovers the number of common keywords that these domains rank in the top Google search results.
  • SE Keywords– It’s the number of keywords that drive a visitor to your rival’s blog pages through Google Top 100 organic searches.

With SEMrush filters, you can find the subfolder of your rival that drives more traffic to their site. Subfolders keep webpage documents. As an illustration, let’s use “edmunds.com”. Edmunds keeps its resale of used cars subfolder in the URL called “/used-cars/.”

To analyze the level of organic traffic it gets from this subfolder:

  1. Click SEO Toolkit.
  2. From the side menu, click Organic Research.
  3. Put in the website name- e.g. “edmund.com.”
  4. Click the Positions Tab.
  5. Apply Advanced Filters.

Include>Keyword>Containing>used-car

After applying Advanced Filters, the keywords and traffic gotten from only the /used-car/ subfolder will be displayed.

From the image, you can tell that Edmunds gets 464K visits per month (which is 0.19% of its total traffic), and it has 33.2K keywords(1.14% of full keywords) in its /used-car/ subfolder. This means this subfolder generates little revenue for the website.

Still under Organic Research:

  1. Enter the website- e.g. “homeadvisor.com”

Include>URL>Containing>/install/

For Homeadvisor, their roofing install page gets 1.7k visitsper month. Arguably, this page is among their high generating commercial intent topics.

Perform Keyword Analysis

  1. Click Traffic Analytics on the side menu.
  2. Enter the web you’re analysing, e.g. “woodandbeyond”.
  3. Click Search.

The above report shows an estimate of the domain’s leading engagement and traffic statistics. This includes total visits, duration, and unique visitors. Also, filters like location, historical data, and devices can be applied to change the results.

Following the filter is the “Estimated Accuracy”. There, you’ll see three blue bars that determine the size of the website and filters.

From our example, woodandbeyond.com has 2 bars, which means its data is not detailed but still reliable.

Furthermore, you can know your competitor’s local traffic standing through the Traffic Results. Here’s Woodandbeyond top engagements in, November 2020:

  • Visits- The total of visits to the domain in November is estimated to be 112.2k, with an increase of (+17.23%) from the previous month.
  • Unique Visitors– This results displays the aggregate unique visitors of the website in a month. Now, Woodandbeyond has an estimate of 75.9K unique visitors. Plus it experienced an increase from last month with (+20.22%).
  • Pages/Visits– This shows how many pages a person visits in one period on the website. Now, on average, visitors browsed 2.34 pages per session on Woodandbeyond. This is (-10.74%) less than the previous month.
  • Avg. Visit Duration– This is the amount of time spent by a person browsing through the website on every visit. The domain’s visitors spent on average six minutes, forty seconds per visit. This is slightly lower by (-8.05%) last month.
  • Bounce Rate– This percent shows the number of individuals that leave the website after visiting a page. 72.40% leave Woodandbeyond site after viewing one page.

You can also compare your domain against competitors with the Traffic Overview Report.

At the top of the page, there’s a box where you can enter at least three competitor’s domains. As an illustration, we’ll be comparing Woodandbeyond with Realhomes.

Notice that, Real homes outranks Woodandbeyond in everything except Avg. Visit Duration. Moreover, you can analyze this report in the graph bar.

  • Click on Backlink Analytics
  • Put in the domain- e.g realhomes.com
  • Click on “Search.”

The overview report gives detailed information on the website’s leading traffic. A large figure of Referring Domains increases a site’s domain authority. Hence, you must keep an eye on your rival’s website.

By clicking the Referring Domain tab, it’ll show you the Top-level domain(TLD) distribution and the top countries sending backlinks.

Realhomes gets most of its backlinks from “.com” sites. Moreover, it has important links from “.uk, .net and .org”. On the right are the top 5 regions that send it backlinks. Below these metrics, there’s a table that contains all the domains sending the website backlinks.
